Born from the Legend: The Alpe d’Huez DNA
If you know your bikes, you already know about the TIME Alpe d’Huez. It’s been the gold standard for bikes for years. The new NXR shares that exact same pedigree, built in the same European facility with the same meticulous attention to detail.
But TIME tuned the NXR for the kind of riding most of us actually do. The geometry is beautifully balanced, you’re not overly stretched out or hunched over, but the second you put power into the pedals, the bike just moves.
Why we’re loving the NXR
- The 32mm tyre sweet spot: It’s optimized specifically around modern 32mm road tyres. That means you get speed, cornering grip, and comfort on the rough UK roads.
- Sleek front end: A brand-new fork (based on the Scylon) reduces aerodynamic drag and makes the steering feel sharp and predictable.
- Future-proof: It features fully internal cable routing, looks incredibly clean, and uses a standard SRAM UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger) so finding replacements down the road is easy.
The Tech Under the Hood (and the Paint)
Most carbon bikes today are built using pre-cut sheets of carbon pressed into a mold. TIME does things completely differently. They literally weave dry carbon fibres into seamless, three-dimensional “socks” (a process called Braided Carbon Structure). Because they weave their own carbon, they’ve woven high-tech Bio-Based Dyneema® fibres right into the high-stress areas like the headtube.
Why should you care? Dyneema® is the stuff used in heavy-duty climbing ropes. It’s insanely strong and dampens road vibration like nothing else. Paired with a Kevlar-reinforced steerer tube, the NXR delivers a velvety, smooth ride quality that ordinary carbon frames just can’t match. And TIME doesn’t hide this craftsmanship. The NXR is finished in gorgeous, jewel-toned transparent gloss coats. When the sun hits the frame, you can see the intricate carbon weave transitions right through the colour. It’s stunning.
