What is a bike fitting?
Cycling by it’s very nature puts you in a position that you don’t normally spend prolonged periods of time in.
A professional mobile bike fit is a service where a trained expert from The Bike Fitters comes to your location to adjust and tailor your bicycle to your specific body measurements and riding style. This ensures optimal comfort, efficiency, and performance.
Why should I get a bike fit?
Getting a bike fit can significantly improve your riding experience. It helps in reducing discomfort, preventing injuries, and increasing efficiency and power output. Whether you’re a casual rider or a competitive cyclist, a proper bike fit is essential for enjoying your rides to the fullest.
Even if you are not experiencing any aches, pains, pressure of discomfort and proper bike fitting can help in so many other areas. Just knowing that you are in the correct position can help prevent any repetitive stain injuries that are often associated with cycling.
Climbing efficiency can be improved due to being in the correct position, better handling and control, especially when descending, more power and therefore free speed, and arguably the best thing is far more enjoyment.
What’s involved during the fitting?
A full fitting is around a 2-hour process and involves a number of steps required to gather information even before the rider gets on the bike.
How do I prepare for the bike fit?
Please ensure your bike is clean and in good working condition. If you have any specific concerns or areas of discomfort while riding, be ready to discuss them during your appointment as the bike fitter will ask you all of this.
You’ll need to have all bikes, static indoor trainers and shoes that you have requested to be included in your fitting available on the day of your fitting.
You’ll need enough room for us to conduct your assessments (both standing and lay on a physio mat) and also room to set your bike(s) up on a trainer so that our bike fitters can observe you from the sides, front and back and then take all the various measurements. This is typically done in an open area of at least 2m x 2m (conservatory, lounge/dinning room, garage, kitchen or on a nice sunny day in the garden on a flat surface).
